About the Author

Odette came to the United States of America from Haiti in 1971.
She attended school to learn more of the English language and obtain
a Bachelor degree from Baruch College of the City University of
New York, in Business Administration majoring in Accounting.
She spent the majority of her career in an international organization,
working in the United States and abroad. She occupied various functions
growing through the ranks in the administration area, to ultimately
become Department Chief of Operations at headquarters and, Deputy
Representative/Head of Operations of her organization abroad.
In these functions, she oversaw the management of Finances, Human
Resources and General Administrations.
Odette’s work brought her in contact with individuals of all
ranks and files of the hierarchy. She got the opportunity to discover
various sides and personalities of human nature and observe their
actions and reactions under different circumstances. She has often
been amazed at the sequence of events, what triggers them and the
consequences
resulting from the way they are handled.
Because of her track record and the various positions she occupied
along her career in the Administration and Management fields, she
has been called upon by peers, subordinates as well as senior management
colleagues to provide advices and counseling to help out in decision-making
or to interpret difficult situations and provide guidance. Drawing
on the vast experiences gathered from her career and that of friends
and acquaintances in other
line of businesses, the thought came to her to package the lessons
learned into case studies and make them available to others.
As her advices have helped her peers and colleagues, she thought
this information could give advance notice to others of the working
world and help them understand certain mechanism of this environment
and be better prepared to face some of its challenges. She hopes
that the readers will learn something they can apply in their professional
and personal life and that the book will influence their behavior
and attitude vis à vis their entities, fellow colleagues
and employees.
Odette has also discovered that straightforwardness, integrity,
strength of character coupled with patience, humility, compassion
and perseverance can take one over the many bumps that are bound
to surge along a career path.
